Terms and Conditions

Section 1: Agreement to Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Client") and True North Veterinary Care, a mobile veterinary practice operated by Dr. Kari Christianson, DVM, BS, CPEV licensed in the State of Washington ("Practice," "we," "us," or "our").

By accessing our website, scheduling an appointment, or engaging our services in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or website.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Section 2: Veterinary Services

Scope of Practice

True North Veterinary Services provides mobile, in-home veterinary euthanasia and end-of-life care services for companion animals within our designated service area in Enumclaw, Washington. Services are performed by a licensed veterinarian in full compliance with Washington Veterinary Practice Act and applicable regulations.

Services Provided

Our services may include, but are not limited to:

  • In-home quality-of-life consultations
  • Compassionate at-home euthanasia for companion animals
  • Aftercare coordination (cremation referrals, private cremation options)
  • Grief support resources and referrals
  • Certificate of death or veterinary documentation as applicable under state law

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)

A valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) must be established prior to the administration of any veterinary services. By scheduling services with us, you represent that you are the legal owner of the animal receiving care, or are an authorized representative of the owner, and that you have the legal authority to consent to veterinary procedures on behalf of that animal.

Medical Judgment

All clinical decisions are made at the sole professional discretion of the attending veterinarian. We reserve the right to decline or modify services if, in the veterinarian's professional judgment, doing so is in the best interest of animal welfare, client safety, or veterinary ethical standards.

Service Area

We serve clients within Enumclaw, Washington and surrounding areas. Travel availability depends on scheduling and geographic constraints. A travel fee may apply for locations beyond 20 miles of Enumclaw, WA. You will be informed of any applicable travel fees at the time of booking.

Section 3: Scheduling & Appointments

Booking an Appointment

Appointments may be scheduled via our website, by phone, or by email. Submitting a scheduling request does not guarantee an appointment. Your appointment is confirmed only when you receive direct confirmation from our practice.

Appointment Availability

We make every effort to accommodate same-day and urgent requests; however, availability cannot always be guaranteed. We serve clients on a first-confirmed, first-served basis. For urgent or end-of-life situations requiring immediate attention, please contact us directly by phone.

Client Responsibilities

To ensure a safe and peaceful appointment, you agree to:

  • Provide an accurate service address and ensure access to your home at the scheduled time
  • Inform us in advance of any concerns about the safety of the environment (e.g., other aggressive animals, restricted access)
  • Have a responsible adult (18+) present at the time of service
  • Provide accurate medical history for your pet to the best of your knowledge
  • Notify us promptly if your pet's condition changes significantly before the scheduled visit

Late Arrivals

If we are unable to access the service location or reach you at the scheduled appointment time, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you. Appointments that cannot be completed due to client unavailability may be subject to a cancellation fee as described in Section 5.

Section 4: Fees & Payment

Service Fees

Our current fee schedule will be provided to you at the time of booking. Fees may vary based on the type of service, pet size, location, and aftercare selections. All fees are due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged in writing.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover)
  • Cash
  • Zelle or ACH

Payment is collected prior to or at the time of service. We do not offer billing or invoicing unless arrangements have been made in advance.

Aftercare Fees

Aftercare services (cremation, urns, paw prints, etc.) may involve third-party providers whose fees are separate from our veterinary service fees. We will provide you with cost information for any aftercare options at the time of booking.

Section 5: Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

Client-Initiated Cancellations

We understand that end-of-life decisions are deeply personal and may change unexpectedly. If your pet passes naturally before the scheduled appointment, please contact us as soon as possible and we will discuss available aftercare options. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us as early as possible. There is no fee to cancel or postpone an appointment prior to travel.

If an appointment is cancelled after travel has begun or after arrival at appointment location, a travel fee may apply.

If we arrive at the scheduled appointment location and are unable to reach the client, unable to access the location, or if no responsible party is present for the appointment, a missed appointment fee may be charged to cover travel time and reserved appointment availability.

  • Cancellations with 2+ hours notice: No fee.
  • Cancellations with less than 2 hours notice: A cancellation fee of $75 may apply to cover travel and scheduling costs.
  • No-show/unable to access home: A fee of $150 may apply.

We never want fees to be a barrier during a difficult time. If you are experiencing extenuating circumstances, please contact us and we will work with you.

Practice-Initiated Cancellations

In the rare event we must cancel due to veterinarian illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond our control, we will notify you as promptly as possible and make every effort to reschedule at the earliest available time. No cancellation fees will be charged to the client in this circumstance.
