Dr. Kari Christianson has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2010 and has spent much of her career caring for pets and their families during some of life's most difficult moments.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, Dr. Christianson began her career in mixed-animal practice, caring for both large and small animals. She later discovered a passion for emergency medicine and spent many years working in emergency and urgent care hospitals, helping families navigate critical illnesses, injuries, and end-of-life decisions.
In 2022, she founded a mobile veterinary practice dedicated to providing mobile euthanasia services. Through this work, she saw firsthand the comfort that familiar surroundings can provide to pets and the peace that many families find in saying goodbye at home or in a place that holds special meaning.
Today, Dr. Christianson focuses on compassionate end-of-life care through True North Veterinary Care. Her goal is to provide a peaceful, unhurried experience that allows pets to remain comfortable and surrounded by the people who love them most.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Christianson enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs, horses, and cat. She is active in search and rescue with her wilderness trailing dog and enjoys hiking, painting, drawing, and music.
Dr. Christianson is honored to help families celebrate the bond they share with their pets and to provide gentle guidance during one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can face.
Finding true north means finding direction when the path ahead is uncertain.
For many families, deciding when it is time to say goodbye to a beloved pet can feel overwhelming. Questions, doubts, and emotions often make it difficult to know what the right next step should be.
The name True North Veterinary Care reflects my role during this journey. While I cannot make these decisions for families, I can help provide guidance, clarity, and support when they are needed most.
Just as a compass points toward true north, my goal is to help families navigate their pet's final chapter with compassion, honesty, and respect. Whether that means discussing quality of life, answering difficult questions, or simply providing a peaceful goodbye, I strive to be a steady presence during a challenging time.
Every pet's journey is unique, but the destination is the same: a life remembered for the love, companionship, and memories shared along the way.
Thank you for trusting True North Veterinary Care to help guide you through that journey.
